1986?  I missed hearing that one. It sounds totally unfamiliar  
to me.   I might have to agree with your prg director.. there's  
nothing overly special about it. Songs tend to do well that can  
distinguish themselves from others competing for attention.

Aretha *does* have a distinctive voice.  She'd probably stand
