Thankfully I Ar> don't have that issue with my car. Never keeping my main car long enough to warrant a custom install (I change that vehicle every 70,000-90,000 miles (110,000-145,000 km) I listen to what is installed. This one has an active Bose 14 speaker system with SirusXM, AM/FM, CD and USB/Bluetooth streaming. As nice sounding as it is, I guess I am old enough to appreciate and run a good home stereo. Hall-Effect CD to a monster Swiss built amp, to massive Altecs with 15in (24cm) drivers quickly reveals any compromises in the production. Back to cars, well driven "road music" is always a joy. The mention of Mike Olfield is interesting, as I find the take-away listening in the car, vs Internet (Pandora via Sonos) and then rendered on my main stereo is very different. A sound engineer explained to me why certain mixes appeal more in the car, but I'd have to ask him again to share his thoughts.
