Subj : Cyberpunk 2077 suggestions?

I can't get past the first fire-fight with Jackie.  Everyone else in the room
is hiding behind something, I'm like some huge target standing in the middle
of the room.  I can crouch with 'c', but I don't know how otherwise to hide
behind anything.  Any suggestions?  Would it be better if I got a gaming
mouse and mousepad?  Right now I'm barebacking a Logitech mouse, which is
fine for navigating a desktop but probably not ideal for gaming.
