I played the originals but I have not bothered with the remakes.

There are hacky ROMS for FF1 that fix most of the bugs. I mention for no
particular reason. I think it can be interesting since FF1 was so broken.

I didn't like FF2 that much. The advancement system was quite meh (and also
broken).

FF3 was nice. I liked the music and the class system was interesting. So many
classes were traps or were useful only in certain moments of the game. Also,
the last dungeon was looooong. Playing without savestates back in the day was
for the hardcorest of the hardcorest.

All in all, good fun :-)
