These days, we'd have enough processing power to translate the nodelist into
Klingon and back,for any processing needed. :)

Yes, I remember having to tweak my cost tables to suit my location, then
compiling that into the nodelist.

I started out on an XT, so compiling the nodelist into a binary form was a
definite advantage! :)
