I wouldn't use USB sticks. They usually don't support fstrim and wear out faster (at least in my experience). One month is a very short lifespan though, especially for SanDisk. (my SD card is from SanDisk)

There is hope that it will last much longer. Do you know if your caddy supports fstrim?
