Subj : Telent ports... To : Sparky From : Robert Wolfe Date : Sat Feb 20 2021 13:48:00 -> Since I have been running my BBS I have noticed that there has been a slow -> down of internet access to my other computers. This is most noticeable when -> using a web browser and is accessing DNS or downloading mail. I have checked -> the logs and I have since a LOT of banned ip's and was wondering if I should -> think about changing my telenet port for my board or will this slow down -> after all the systems stop trying to get into my board. -> Jeff -> --- Mystic BBS v1.12 A46 2020/08/26 (Windows/32) -> * Origin: Communicatin Connection 21:100/192 (21:1/192) Either change you inbound telnet port, run a firewall to block IPs or countries, or put a CAPTCHA type in your prelogin sequence somewhere, which is what I did -- my WINServer asks you to answer a simple math question before prompting you for your user/firstname and lastname. It's worked out well so far, but I might make it to where you are just told to type in a random number that a computer gives you. But, that may be too easy. :) ....
