I quite like it for two reasons:  Size & Power Consumption.

The old "server" I had was a large HP tower w/ an i5, a DVD burner & 2 spinning 1TB drives.  It still works & does the job, but I don't really need something that big & powerful.

The NUC literally fits in one hand, has a 128GB MSATA SSD as the boot drive and a 2nd 2.5" 256GB SSD for any extras (which is currently empty) & runs off of a 65W power brick.

I have the 2013 version which I got off of eBay for $130:

I have a Wemo Insight Plug which tells me how much power whatever is plugged
into it uses.  I should plug the NUC into it for a month to get an idea how it costs to run.
