Typing from my iPad so can't really check right now but whatever is installed
via apt with Ubuntu 18.04.

Interesting. Ok, maybe tomorrow or this weekend or something I'll try running
bigbang in dosbox, tedit in dosbox, etc., and then just try running tradewars
itself in dosemu.

I'm curious, there are two 3.09 editions of TW2002, one is DPMI one is not.
Can you specify which version you used?
