Just to echo what ryan said, it is indeed that you probably started ./mis as
root. If you run as a non-root user, make sure you CHOWN all the files/dirs
to that user (e.g. sudo chown -R bbsuser:bbsuser /mystic (or wherever it is
located).

When running as non-root, dosemu will look in that bbsuser's home folder by
default for relevant config/autoexec.bat files (e.g. something like
/home/user/bbsuser/.dosemu/drive_c/autoexec.bat)
