DOVE-Net on Synchronet is usually via QWKnet, which means no echo-tag/area-tag 
is applicable (QWK uses conference *numbers* not names). And Synchronet will 
refuse to gate between network-types (e.g. FTN->QWK or QWK->FTN) unless 
explicitly enabled by the sysop.

Maybe you're conflating internal-codes with area-tags? Even if the sysop 
accidentally use the same internal-code for multiple sub-boards, he'd have to 
explicitly enable gating between net-types.
