 ap> door.sys has the user id in it, you could just use sed to pull it

this seems to work for the door script

#!/bin/sh

NODE=$1
SOCKET=$2
USER=$(sed '26!d' /home/bbs/MagickaBBS/node${NODE}/door.sys)

cd /home/bbs/MagickaBBS/doors/
../bbslink.sh dkns ${USER}
