I was more concerned about reliability and repair costs.  I've heard CVTs usually cost more to get serviced/repaired, and I've heard they can be less reliable than a traditional automatic transmission.  I'd heard some (I think for Honda?) need to be serviced every 30,000 miles (seems fairly often), and I've heard Nissan CVTs in particular have had a lot of trouble.
