I was kinda wondering if there's a massive coffee or tea thing, but I'm guessing Oktoberfest is already fairly high in the "world's biggest gatherings". ac> Well, yes. Although that's not my style (but I have to admit neither ac> having one nor having worn one before) :) It can be a very flattering dress type, which is probably why I'm a fan, even if it's still not the sort of thing that I'd manage to be able to wear to work (presuming a non-cleavage-baring variety). Even though I'll certainly wear more formal things to work, just because, if I _have_ stuff, it's nice to _use_ the stuff. ac> Also AFAIK real Dirndl's, made from quality materials and complying ac> with bavarian heritage, can be quite expensive. That... seems not at all surprising. Though it seems like it should've been at least _somewhat_ cheap on the lower end, historically, if most of the not-particularly-rich people were wearing them. Mine came from a 2nd-hand store, if memory serves. Maybe some day I could justify getting a "real" one, but... it's hard to find an excuse to wear one, if you're not wearing it as a costume as part of working or joining the drug fest. ac> The same applies to Lederhosen (leather trousers)... Yeah. I'm not sure how much my ex paid for a pair, though I think it was also a thrift store purchase. But leather is generally not going to be cheap, regardless. ac> Probably, yes. Also because it's a heritage building and thus will be ac> kept alive. Hopefully! ac> From ~2010 to 2019 I've been to Augsburg around 2x per year, there has ac> been a retro computing exhebition called RetroPulsiv there at the ac> Fachhochschule. That _does_ sound pretty cool. Not sure if cool enough that I'd make a six-hour journey for it (I like BBSs and the demoscene, but, oddly, not so much for the old hardware), but it certainly sounds like it'd be neat. ac> Sometimes, I've also been to the city center and I always was puzzled ac> that the McDonalds is now where it is at K”nigsplatz. ac> In my memory, it always has been where the "Telekom Shop" is today and ac> not where a shoe shop used to be (2 houses to the left of the Telekom ac> Shop). Hah! "Why are you putting the stores in the wrong place!?!?!?" And seeing K”nigsplatz... I also found it interesting how busy it was there, and if you go just a bit outside the area, suddenly it's a sleep neighborhood. Which I found out when exploring a bit, and trying to see the insides of a church or two that was outside of the main touristy areas. But those wound up being closed, presumably because of it not being touristy enough. --- Mystic BBS v1.12 A47 2021/12/24 (Linux/64) * Origin: Storm BBS (21:2/108) .
