I mean... as a COMPANY, their process and release of Apple Silicone IS rational - FOR THEM. But agreed, they are trying to make sure no one runs anything other than their OS, and software even, on their hardware...

I recently ran into some of their corporate locking - both activation lock and that corporate account stuff; LOTS of 2016+ Apple hardware is bound for the recycling bin b/c Apple added their T2 (And newer) chips to the mix... sucks. I'm having to drill a 2016 Macbook Pro - the ones with a touchbar. :/ Totally sucks...

HOWEVER, the earlier machines CAN get some Linux action - I have a 2015 Macbook Air and and even older white Macbook... it pains me to drill thru the 2016 MBP. Will ask the client if they prefer to have it back, OR login for me - if it isn't locked by their prior employer... most clients won't choose to doso, tho - so I think its headed for the bin. :/

I hate their current stance on offering hardware for a decent price with lowend specs that most everyone would WANT to upgrade, and charing INSANE RAM/SSD prices for upgrades... ugh. Thank gosh for 16GB standard RAM and Thunderbolt 4/5 external SSD speeds - but still really lame IMO.

I dunno - as far as positioning APPLE for success, their doing a bang-up job. I agree with you, but I think they've learned a thing or 3 from the past. :/ We will pay, and we will like it.
