That's weird - Proxmox is essentially Debian with a web front-end,
you'd think the upstream distros would see similar issues?

ESXi is a good platform, I found the hardware compatibility sketchy -
and I've got a crap homelab at home, so I didn't even bother setting it
up. I had 4-5 year old servers fall off VMWare's HCL a couple of years
ago, which didn't make sense.
