I had a 2014 plug-in Prius, drove it for 9 years and 190,000 miles before it was totalled. The battery still had 75% charge, according to a diagnostic I ran. Battery prices are getting cheaper as time goes on. It used to be $3000+ for a Gen3 prius, now it's half-that - and there are Lithium Ion batteries with more charge and less weight than the original NiMH batteries. I'm tempted to pick up a Gen3 Prius with a bad battery and replace the battery with one of the new LiIon batteries. I've seen decent condition Priuses with dead batteries for $3K. To get a running Prius with a known good/new battery for $5K would be a steal. --- SBBSecho 3.20-Win32 * Origin: realitycheckBBS.org -- information is power. (21:4/122) .
