It's like having a generator (which might not be a had idea, especially if power loss is a semi-common thing where you live).

Did you ever have to replace the battery in your Prius?  That's still one of the things I'd be concerned about if I had a hybrid/EV, as I've heard battery replacement in those cars tends to be fairly expensive.
