That comment struck me as odd, too, as mayo seems to be the standard fry condiment in Germany, and I'm in the ketchup camp.

Well, I'm mostly in the, "no real need to get fries, but I'll eat some if they're around" camp.

And I grew up with my dad, for whom fries were ketchup-delivery vehicles. He was also a fan of ketchup on eggs.

But I'd use mayo if no ketchup was available. Though maybe just not eat the fries. Potatoes just aren't my thing.
