So you definitely can do both. The 15 year old should file taxes to get back anything that was withheld, and regardless of what he made he probably didn't pay more than half of his living expenses so is still a dependent. Though, I think on the 15 year old's taxes, he has to SAY that someone else claims him as a dependent.
