My dad owned a couple of radio stations when I was a kid. It kept me fed and
sheltered for the first 18 years of my life. There's a lot of garbage on
the airways these days...I think out of about 70 radio stations I can get int
eh Northern Colorado / Denver market, 3 of them are really good, 5 of them
are listenable in an emergency, and the rest are either hot garbage or genres
I'm not interested in...mostly hot garbage.

At night I'll fire up the HF rig with an endfed antenna and see what's going
on with the AM bands. They're even worse...much much worse. It's all sports
or right wing politics. (And don't even get me started on shortwave...)

For me it's all about actually sitting there and listening to an album. For
reasons I don't quite understand, putting a disc in and actually actively
listening to it is a different experience than streaming an album.
