We must have been spoiled in my area, or maybe I am a little older.  Here
you could find cartoons on until noon on at least one station.  That is
when wrestling came on.  ;)  I do remember the abrupt transition from
cartoons to other programming.

Later in the afternoon, the Muppet Show would come on for a half-hour, and
another station ran a half-hour of Looney Tunes.  That was handy during the
winter when it started getting dark early.
