When I was finishing school, I lived in the outer Sunset. Took the bus, rode my bike or drove to SFSU. Went to the Safeway across the park on Fulton. Ran Lake Merced and the Great Highway. I'd realized I'd not left my neighborhood in months, nor had I seen the sun the whole time. Drove to the *inner* sunset and sat outside at a coffee shop in the sun, wondering how I'd forgotten about blue skies. If you have a walkable neighborhood, it's easy. I had a coffee shop, mexican restaurant, diner, health food store, convenience store, chinese restaurant, the beach and a park within walking distance of my house. ....
