I'd rather have a retail DVD rather than a rental DVD.  Rental DVDs usually don't have much (or any) of the extras that the ones sold by retailers do. When renting a movie, you're likely to get a disc that just has the movie and maybe some ads at the beginning, but not much else (if anything).
