I'm not so sure that 90% of the customers are using self check out by choice these days. The faces on the lines look awfully familiar to what made self check out unique. When it no longer is convenient, nor fast, I suppose I'd prefer the more experienced cashier as so many suck at finding the bar code. That and many people depend on "those simple" jobs: unplanned "un" retirement, single parents, handicap, veterans with PTSD, high schoolers first jobs, college students, a families second-forth income, etc. My fear is that tech is not taking into account that there are quickly becoming more people then will be jobs. Even in the face of big-tech layoffs, some don't see themselves coding their own job to extinction. Now before anyone jumps in with the it's "inevitable"take, I know... Optimistically the hope would be that through these advances will create jobs we can't foresee at the moment. Until then, I'm enjoying being a part of the self check out resistance as Blockbuster and now Redbox had and now have disappeared too quickly for me. |15-|12t|04G |15www|08.|15theun|07dergrou|08nd|07.|08us|15:|0810023 ....
