I have a long-distance-truck-driver friend who frequently talks about looking forward to getting off the road pretty soon.

Mostly because the working conditions can be... not great. Things like, "You _have_ to be in x place at y time". You show up at y time, and there'll be no one there to deal with your load for 3 or 4 hours, during which time you will not be getting paid, and the delay interferes with your ability to be home for the weekend.

But I think it might be somewhat better outside the US. Not sure. Just that, if people can find a place with decent working conditions, then the lifestyle likely would be interesting for a people with a certain mindset.

Probably not for me, but I think the idea of driving around large vehicles would be either super anxiety inducing, or super sleep inducing, neither of which would be a good thing.
