Never had my gallbladder removed but had my Sigmoid colon removed. They went right through my abdominal wall right down the middle and around my belly button.. You have to make sure you do NO HEAVY lifting for a few months, I did and ended up with a surgical hernia. My surgeon gave me a wrap to wear sort of like a girdle I wore that for about a month or 2. It helped to keep my stomach compressed and allowed me to not have the excessive soreness from having the surgery.. Good luck and hope you are on the mend..
