I have really hard water with a high chlorine content, and bought a
Waterdrop reverse osmosis system. It was $300, fits underneath my sink
just fine, and only requires a small hole in the counter for the spigot.
If you don't want to/can't cut a hole and have a spare hole in your
sink, you can use that, too.

I went 1 year before the carbon filter flagged that it was time to be
replaced, and it was $39. The RO filter is still going, and it'll be $89
to replace. It's going to end up being a lot cheaper than filtered
pitchers or having water delivered, and it's a lot more convenient. When
I redid my kitchen, I ran a line from it to my refrigerator, and have
filtered water and ice.
