Yes, it is indeed a widespread event.  It just makes me laugh when I 
watch the "news" and it sounds like the Apocolypse is here.  I 
mean......  it's winter.  It's December.  It just seems so over-hyped, 
as if the media wants to create a story out of .... nothing.  Gee, that 
is actually what most "news" is, after all.

Yes, we are also feeling it here.  Below freezing temps over the next 
four nights, and daytime highs in the 30's.  Unusual, yes.  
World-ending, no.
