there used to be some commodore boards in my area (back then) that only
supported 300 baud and that is about right.  Since I was running a PC I was
doing any file transfers from those boards so I was only there for read
messages.  It was not that bad.... of course, I only had a 2400 modem then,
too.  If I had been used to 33.6k by then , I think I would have noticed!
