That was the tipping point for me. I bet you're right. A few years later, they were faster than the Ultra, too. I was sad when SPARC was canc'd last year, but it was past time. Register windows and soft TLBs were nifty for the time, but in the harsh light of experience, proven not to be as cool as was initially thought.
