Same here. I've been working since I was 13. There was no allowance or rewards
for good grades growing up... you wanted money for name-brand clothing or
records, stereo equipment, BMX bike, skateboard etc or some "nerdy computer
things"...  you go out and work for it.

I mowed so many lawns, shoveled so many driveways... had a nice alcoholic 
couple who partied at the legion or whatever on weekends and desperately 
needed babysitting for their two brats. Paid me a ton of cash every time.

My kid has some of my work ethic but still feels entitled... unfortunately.
