Does HD-Homerun do that? I may be What is PVR? I know DVR is Digital Video Recorder, but I'm unfamiliar with the term PVR. HDHomerun can record to a USB drive, but I haven't used that feature of it. I have used Plex to record TV broadcasts (Plex will use any tuner it has configured), and Plex will write those recordings to its "TV Shows" section (it may even be able to tell if it's recording a movie and save that to its "Movies" section). You can configure Plex's media library directories anywhere you want. Currently I have Plex using an internal hard drive, but I suppose you could configure Plex's media directories to be on a SMB share if you wanted to.
