I can only speak for myself.  I prefer to minimise the amount of handling that
I do (I've done public speaking and community radio interviews , rather than
podcasting), so I've always been more of a "work out the main points and do the
rest on the fly" type of person - a set of notes with dot points is enough.

And as others have pointed out, it probably sounds more natural.
