My parents place was the same, they bought it sub $20k I think, early 70's
since she's moved into aged care, the house was subsequently sold, demolished
and had two "units" built on it. Have to say aged care is a rort too... if
she didn't have the house to sell, she'd never have been able to afford to
move in.
