In Probably right. This particular job requires very frequent re-evaluation of many very precise measurements and tolerances, and upgrades, and parts replacement. Highly specialized and requires lots of training and experience to be fully qualified. Also dealings with customers/clients, overtime and after-hours work, and some on-call time. I have no illusions about being "irreplaceable", but it is common in this field for people like me to remain for 20+ years. There is zero chance of layoffs, or the company folding.
