I guess ap> that's when it really does need to be enjoyable and relaxing to be ap> doable. I agree... today has been fun, most of what I am doing is trying to swat down inactive nodes and delink them. For all the upsides of running a mix of BinkD and HPT etc. it's a royal pain to have to edit multiple config files to add and remove nodes, equally I have to manually check echo stats to see which node is building up with excess files, days... and then also manually poll as that node to clear held/stuck echomail as well as clear fileboxes... I confess the Mystic setup up for auto removal and one place to add/remove a node vs 3-4 config files is far more appealing.. ap> Yep, can understand that. It's tough because even though it's a hobby, ap> it's important to you and so you can't just let it go for a while or ap> things start to fall apart. I guess that's something different, to me my ap> BBS software is no longer that important to me, and having people use it ap> isn't important either, so if I let it go for a bit, and they jump on ap> something else or keep using as is, it doesn't matter. With a net you've ap> always got to work on it to keep it up - with software it doesn't stop ap> working if you don't constantly add new things. It's not like the network has stopped working while I'm not as active but yes I guess there are risks things can bung up at HUB etc. and then that's when issues can occur. There's a packet I need to check out with Solaris for NET 2 causing him some issues so that's on my to-do soon but really for the most part things run smoothly without me being on every day. It's in the area of adding/removing nodes that takes a bit of time so I do need to make time for that admin. That's cool, I'm fine with that but may not be acting on things within 30 mins now :) ap> Av> the stuff above. I'm a bit slower to respond to some new membership ap> Av> requests (and feel a bit bad about that) at times but like you remind ap> Av> myself it's a hobby and to do things at my own pace and when it feels ap> Av> enjoyable etc. to do so. ap> ap> Yep, I guess it's a fine line, on one hand people don't mind waiting a ap> bit, on the other if they wait too long they get frustrated and naggy ap> lol. Still, I think there's some wiggle room, waiting a week or so is ap> fine, when it approachs a month of no response it's not so fine - but ap> even then, if you keep them in the loop so they don't think you've quit ap> and the net is on autopilot, it wouldn't be so bad. yep... ap> Av> Haha... it's not just in your head, perhaps we start a support group ap> Av> like minded folks :) ap> ap> Hehe, I thought this was it ?? Aha... good to know heh ap> heat pump? we have an air conditioner that also does heat, when I was in ap> SA had a fire place, that was nice - kind of miss it, but don't miss the ap> constant getting / stacking wood etc. Yes I imagine you'd be far more aircon for cooling that heating. Lugging firewood builds muscles and gives me a chance at wrist wrestling... but only a chance --- Mystic BBS v1.12 A47 2021/12/24 (Linux/64) * Origin: Agency BBS | Dunedin, New Zealand | agency.bbs.nz (21:1/101) .
