How do you start a conversation? Random topic starters could invite healthy conversation about said topic, something we didn't think about discussing before. I don't think it turns into a farce, what puts a net on the nose for me is deliberate nastiness - which is sometimes disguised as sarcasm, sometimes not. If one doesn't want to talk about campbell's soup or rainy days, they are free to hit next - and while the same could be said about nasty posts, nasty posts shouldn't be posted in the first place.
