It not politics that kills unity. People kill unity. The trouble arises when someone wants to be "right" when there isn't a "right". Sure, unity is great but we can't always be united and it's OK to discuss things if we can do that in a respectful way. Every node is free to connect the areas they please or not be connected if they so choose. The same is true of threads in areas you do read.
