Shrug, squeaky wheel gets the kick as Minsc says I suppose. But like here,
one would imagine there's a good sized middle ground somewhere that we're not
acquainted with.  I can't speak for the europeans or New Zealanders, but I
think most Aussies aside from the peanuts that want to run for office find
most poli's to be complete flogs.

Politics like Churches tend to attract the wrong kinds of people to
themselves for petty self agrandizement reasons.
