Probably cost again, and the fact they were being added to "entertainment
centres". There was a brief period they tended to be silver, but that
disappeared pretty quickly. If you use black, you don't need any TiO2,
Titanium Dioxide, for your white pigment.. making it cheaper, probably
not a lot cheaper but in the scheme of things over a long run enough to make
the bean counters happy.
