And I had started to see software that let you do other things while transferring a file, just before the internet started to get popular. There were a couple of graphical BBS standards I started to see too - RIP and RoboBoard. I remember calling one or two RoboBoard BBSes in my area, and I remember RoboBoard having a custom, fully graphical BBS client program, and I seem to remember it looking a bit like AOL or Windows, where you could have multiple things going on with the BBS at the same time.
