Deon's running a Mastodon server.. I've looked a couple of times but never
really run with it. I've stuck with FB for specific groups, one automotive,
the rest Apple II related, but as a "social" venue I don't go near it. IRC I
think is going to depend on what server you find. A lot tend to be pretty
quiet IME, with a fair number of hangers on but not much action.
