I don't know if it's crap any more. My desktop PC's been running Windows 10, 
I've gone through a Feature Upgrade seamlessly, and I haven't seen a crash 
in a year. I mostly keep it on 24/7 unless I'm away from my home office for 
the day.

WSL gives me a posix environment that blends into the OS nicely, much more 
seamlessly than cygwin or gitbash.
