Mc> Mc> McDoob Mc> SysOp, PiBBS There are machines which are capable of developing according to algorithms, but actual intelligence, we are a long way from from general intelligence. Machines can process, but they can't think, not in the broad sense that we can. I think we're further away from that than we think, and developing such a thing is undesirable. What if the machine is conscious? We would then have an obligation to protect it, make sure it doesn't suffer. People could create conscious entities just to torture them or rule over them as petty tyrants. .. --- Mystic BBS v1.12 A47 2021/12/24 (Linux/64) * Origin: Agency BBS | Dunedin, New Zealand | agency.bbs.nz (21:1/101) .
