I don't see anyone going out of their way to break into a BBS. By far the login attempts try to force, root, admin, or some other known default account name, it doesn't matter what password the attacker uses its never going to be there. Again having access to a BBS doesn't give you any particular power, or added vulnerability. It's not like you can plant some kind of trojan, add other accounts, or generally damage a BBS setup.
