If your BBS doesn't have native SSH support, you need to do some sort of
protocol conversion, you can't just point an SSH client at its telnet port.
The easiest way to achieve this is to accept the SSH connect at OS level and
then direct to a telnet session to the BBS.

I had two issues, great difficulty in ensuring the security of the process, I
had people escaping into the OS.  When it was used as intended it adds a
whole lot of latency to the link.
