I am planning a US cross country road trip with my wife and teenage daughter this summer. I live in California and heading to see some friends in Kentucky.
I am planning around 3 weeks on the road with a majority of it being hotel stays.

If you were going on a cross country road trip where would you stop, and what would you do there? Looking for some good ideas or memories you may have.
