They've just been embedded for several hundred years. Why is "sunrise" 6am? Why not start our "day" (sunrise) at 00:00? That makes more sense.... I just think that in our increasingly global world where people have to attend meetings in the middle of the night anyway because the scheduler set it for a time when it was daylight for themselves, it's not much of a reach to just use UTC for everything and people adjust. I'm glad the US is finally killing Daylight Savings Time.
