Actually, most vegetarians are ok consuming animal products as long as the
animal is not harmed as a result. This is, you can milk your mare and produce
firewater from her milk, and that is fine - also, the fermentation and
distilation of horse milk is very safe. It is vegans who say you are infinging
on your horses' rights by producing milk firewater and who don't take anythign
from an animal source.

Cheese is not vegetarian because they use parts of a murdered animal to rot the
milk into it :-)
